Today I am celebrating 10 years in Israel! WOW! I can’t believe it myself!

I have lived in 10 different apartments, in 6 different cities…

Now I live in Jerusalem, where on my way to taking Yagel to school I can admire a flock of goats, or watch a crane hoisting things on a building site. I look out of my balcony at Bethlehem on one side and a monastery on the other. Rolling Judean hills, nice neighbours, and great weather. Who could ask for anything more…

In honour of my 10 years anniversary, I think inventory is in order….

1 great business, slowly growing

2 great kids, growing much too quickly

3 oclcock (actually 3:45) when I pick up Yagel and we go do something fun

4  planes – thats what it took to get to ISrael… nothing like a free frequent flyer ticket!

5 days till my luggage arrived….

6 cities I’ve lived in in Israel – Raanana, Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Pardes Hana, Kfar Yona, Jerusalem

7 days till my mom comes back from the States

8 million different fabrics waiting for me to sew something

9 bags still left to sew for the Gan graduation…. not panicking yet… but sooon!!!

10 years in this beautiful crazy country!

HOORAY! I think I’ll go out for lunch to celebrate… I think a falafel is in order, don’t you think?

MWAH!

I have had these fabrics sitting in my stash for a while. Not too long, mind you, but long enough to pine over them and contemplate never ever cutting them. But, I needed to make a few gifts. And not just for anyone, but for two of my favourite people. So the Japanese fabric was the order of the day. Here is a vintage style pinafore… or smocket, pattern taken from Mayfly.

and the back (easier to see on the house-model…)

and next was a reversible skirt. The pattern is by the long thread, inspired by this skirt, and the fabric was bought on etsy from the fabric worm, as were the previous fabrics in the smock.  The long thread sells the pattern in her shop.

I hope the recipients like their gifts. I won’t say who they are, cuz the gifts havent arrived yet, but I can’t wait to show you…

Have a wonderful Sunday, and happy Father’s Day!

I was nominated for an Angel Award. The Alexis silent auction was a success. Money was raised, and that’s the most important part… My pics weren’t bought. Maybe next time. It’s the thought that counts, right?

We were invited to a Brita on Friday. A brita is the equivalent of a Bris (circumcision) without the circumcision, cuz its the party for a baby girl. I suppose people felt taht girls were left out and we can always use another reason to eat…. Here’s what I made for the baby:

I bought the pattern from One girl. So easy to follow! and so impressive when finished (if I say so myself…)

Then, a mom at Gan ordered a blanket for a baby present. She wanted something summery. Here’s what I made…

And finally, I found this great tutorial to make a dress out of a man’s shirt… So I went to a factory outlet, found a goreous shirt, and proceeded to cut it up… only after looking at it for a week, think, how can I cut this gorgeous shirt?

while drifting thru cyberspace, I was touched by the story of Alexis.  Tammy of Country Folk Art has generously put together a silent auxtion, and i have decided to be a part of it. I am donating two items. First, a fabric covered canvas.

In all the sewing  frenzy, I sometimes forget about me. But, necessity is the mother of sewing…. so I finally made something just for me.

I needed a bag. Something more practical than the bag I was using, something with a shoulder strap. Something in the colours I wanted. Hunted high. Hunted low. Nothing nice in my price-range (cheap)…

So I decided to make one! What do you think? the tutorial is from tiny happy. I was so easy to follow… and only took me 2ish hours….

PHEW! I’m tired! Will try to write soon…. MWAH!

Somthing is wacky with my computer. I haven’t been able to get into my blog in ages and ages… until today, when Yagel, bless his heart, turned my computer off. twice. nothing lost, but now I can get in! I have been itching to post for so long. So, here I am!

I made the cutest matryoshka doll for my friend Maya. She is a great photographer. She took picturesof Ziv last week and I can’t wait to see them.

I am also about to start a quilt-along project with oh Fransonn. JUst discovered her blog today, through Blessed Roots, another favourite of mine. I can’t wait to choose fabrics and get started…

Oh, bythe way… it’s official! I am a small business! Hooray! My Nooly was born, yesterday, March 3rd, quite appropriate as well, seeing as it was Ziv’s first birthday. We celebrated that as “Big Brother Day” cuz it was the day Yagel became a big brother. Since Ziv doesn’t understand yet, Yagel got pancakes with chocolate syrup and sprinkles and Ziv had Cheerios… He was quite chuffed (as was she, with her Cheerios)…

I’m off to cut out a template… have a good one! MWAH!
